Opinion on Senco SFN II 15g trim nailer
What is your opinion on the Senco SFN II 15 guage trim nailer? A neighbor down the street has one that he will sell ( or give ?) to me, but its going to need a complete tune-up ( its not in working condition now). I have the Senco SFN 40 and love it, thinking of using the SFNII as a back-up/ 2nd gun. Wondering if its worth spending what may be `$100 to get it up and running or just go out and get something new. Thanks for any info.

Well, let's see, I bought my SFN 1 in the early 80's, great gun, still use it a lot. Soon after that, Senco introduced the SFN II, which was supposed to be great because it shot 8d nails, so you could hang doors and other stuff requiring that extra 1/2". Of course, my SFN 1 was still going strong so I couldn't get one, but in the late 90's when I needed another gun because I had help I found the SFN 40 had replaced the SFN II.
Anyway, that SFN II wasn't on the market very long. There must have been some fatal design flaw or something. Still, if you can get the rebuild kit for it, and the gun free, I wouldn't pass that up a Senco for that kind of money.
It's junk!
I'll pay the shipping and you can send it to me. But if you want the truth, it's a great gun. it has more power than the 40 and the only downfall is that it's heavier. I have one SFNIIB and 2 40's.

I've got both, I and II, good tools, except that 100 bucks should be the limit, IMO, any more and you should just go buy new.
