I am thinking of getting a 10″ compound miter saw, I frame and do a little finish work. Has anyone used one or does anyone have a suggestion. I am thinking of getting the Craftsman Professional Model or should I pay the extra 70 bucks for a dewalt or makita?

The Delta 10" CM is about $170 and has performed very well for me as an economy saw. It does nice trim cutting, stable and simple. With Craftsman, you're buying a repackage something-else saw. To me the odd handle looked awkward and less safe. I've heard good things about the DeWalt 12" CM and of course the Cadillac DW SCM ($600).
For framing you really ought to consider a saw with better crosscutting ability. The 10" can cut up to a 2x6, after that you have to flip and cut again. It managed to choke its way through a 4x6, but it wasn't pretty. VERY annoying for siding, larger crown. Either a larger saw or a slider. I'd like to know more about the smaller (
*I paid about 350 for My Dewalt 12" compound miter saw. I really and truly love it (probably because my last one was such a piece of crap).Pete Draganic
