I’ve been doing a lot of deck and porch building this spring and found myself wanting to use my 16g nailer in the finish work. We’ve been tapping the nail heads in, and filling the holes with outdoor filler mixed with all weather glue. I’m concerned that these nails (which are galvanized, but not hot dipped will) corrode. Mainly, we’ve been framing with pressure treated, and cladding with cedar.
Is it taboo to use 16g finish nailer in oudoor applications? is there such a thing as hot dipped 16g straight nails? Is sealing the nail holes sufficiant?
thanks for any advice…

Your concerns are valid. This combination of materials in the outdoors isn't likely to have a long life. Don't think there is HDG 16 g, but you can find stainless steel.
16g is too light for outside. I use a 15g nailer with stainless to hold things together, then go over with box nails (either SS or HDG).
HD galvinized 16 ga? I'd bet not. Get some SS nails.
For me, If I'm gonna use a trim gun outside, I use 15 ga SS.
