When I was a kid and worked on a wheat ranch, the hired-help shower was a 50 gal. barrel on stilts with a valve and a nozzle off the bottom of it that you stood under. The theory was that the barrel was warmed by sun and stayed warm overnight. However, the morning shower was definitely a bit bracing to say the least.
An outdoor shower should be simple enough that it wouldn't take much designing to get one set up. It would seem pretty specific to your situation. The problems would be protecting the siding/foundation from water, making it esthetically pleasing, and having something to anchor the valves and shower head to. Getting hot water piped to the area would seem to be the major challenge.
Some outdoor camping stores have portable showers. You might try one temporarily to see if you really like it.
*Build it relatively close to the house. Cold water supply may be adequate (this is all I recall on the Florida beaches). Set a slab on the sand, build a set of walls around it and mount your hardware. Put on your thinking cap for drainage. Could even use a hose for water supply when needed.Of course, in Ohio, outdoor showers are somewhat rare (rare as in... I've never seen one). These are just my ideas for what they're worth.Pete
*We hit the beach as often as possible, and take a lot of outdoor showers. Like Pete sez, put it close to the house for plumbing, and do run hot water, unless you're some kind of Spartan... but no concrete, pressure treated decking, with adequate spacing, and drain directly to the sand, if possible. Enclose with lattice, or hold solid walls up off the deck, someway to keep the place well ventilated, you'll want it to dry out. Make sure you can drain the water lines competely, for the winter. I love outdoor showers so much, I'm buiding one at my house, and I'm 3 hours from the beach...got my ear in a seashell...give me a week at your place, and I'll build it...Good luck
