I use one on the driver's side only -- it's really good at showing vehicles in the blind spot. For the right side, I just look over my shoulder.
And about twenty years ago, I had a full size van that I had bought used. The previous owner had left something in the windshield that I have been looking for ever since.
It was a clear vinyl suction cup, with a concave survace on BOTH sides. One side stuck to the windshield from the suction. The other side acted as a forward-looking blindspot sight. With that thing, I could see traffic lights that were almost directly above my bumper. There was no need to lean forward, then twist my neck to look up.
Wish I could find one of those for my current pickup.
There were a variety of prisms and mirrors available back in the 50's when visor's were popular. Probably gone the way of buggy whips by now...
A small 1" circular mirror was on the Chevy pickup I bought whereas I put a larger rectangular (about 2"x3") on my station wagon. The larger one was wedge shaped so couldn't easily be used on the other side. I find the small one too small to really see anything that isn't almost on top of you. It takes a moment to refocus your eyes on any of the convex mirrors from the flat mirror that they are on and sometimes I forget to do this. I would actually prefer a flat mirror or one with minimal magnification that I could attach to the bottom of my regular mirror and then turn it just enough so that it covers the blind spot. May have to make my own, unfortunately... One of the new trucks, maybe Ford, has a two part mirror with the lower section magnified that looks pretty good, but don't think I can afford the price of a new Ford just to get a better blind spot mirror...

You might try looking around at the Big Box Stores, in the parking lot View ImageView Image
Check at your local hot rod shop . They use them in cars with choped tops . Check JC Whitney.
bobl, I like this rectangular add on as it doesn't distort the sides. I have seen stock mirrors w/the bottom portion curved down, a much bigger field of view.
Do not try this. Trained driver on closed course.
