I went to the bookstore today… noticed one with the title “Outwitting Contractors”.(no, not by Taunton Press) I thumbed through it – the blurb on the back said something about you (the homeowner) being in a war with… guess who. Heh heh. If I had read that book as a homeowner I’d feel like the linemen in
i Enemy At The Gates…
just waiting to be picked off by the legions of incompetent, dishonest tradesmen out there. I guess somebody has gotten burned pretty good – but I’d hate to think of doing anything for someone who’s taken this book to heart. A more thorough reading might change my mind about the book… have any of you read it?

Alan, No I haven't read it but if you do or anyone else for that matter please give us a review of what it says.

Nothing is impossible...It just hasn't been done yet.
Well, I browsed it on Amazon.com. The few pages I saw were like don't have an affair with your contractor. Seriously. He went on for a few paragraghs about why it happens and etc. (Lonely housewifes, I read it so you don't have to) Catchy title, not too much substance.
This is a series. Other books in the series are... Outwitting squirrels. Outwitting raccoons. I can't remember the others maybe sparrows. So contractors arethe first mammals he has done research on. LOL.
alan, actually I have read it, and though about half of it is just entertaining the other half is very useful. It's one of the better books on the small construction client-business relationship I think, and well, there aren't many books like that out there in the first place.
if you already have experience here, either as a client or businessman, it might not be so useful.
I got it from the library, if I bought books I would buy it.
