The job: Enclose a stairwell at the top adding the “tops” of 2 kneewalls and installing a door for the teens privacy in a 2-story condo…. pretty st8forward but the logistics of installing and finishing drywall over the stairs( an 8′ step off of the stairs is scary…app. 14′-16′ above bottom run) and it will apply to both sets of steps (think 2 runs 180 degrees and climbing to the 2nd floor)…..any ideas short of renting scaffold and still rigging some catastrophe waiting to happen?)

Bite the bullet, rent the scaffold. You will be surprised, and happy, with hiow much easier it makes the job. Not only is it safer, but you have plenty of room to work, and you will be able to work a little faster.
