today i get a estimate on some roofs, for me the guy really blows it by being 40 mins late while i sit in the van waiting, walks over to the house with no ladder ,just pretty unprofessional.
so gets up on the roof finally, measures it with his feet[that should be in the ball park, huh]
anyway hands me a estimate that really doesn’t address how i just told him i wanted it done and it’s about 2500.00 higher than i thought it would be. well i don’t jump up and down with joy so he gives me the good buddy discount[even shows me his secret code, what a bunch of krap i used to be in the car bussiness give me a break] now to tell you the truth a lot of guys this is standard operating procedure and thats fine, although for me i’m done.shoot me a price,i’ll say yes -no and were done.
now to the real point, since i don’t jump on the newest offer he tells me he will give me “jose’s” number and he will come over with him some eve and get him to bid it and i can furnish materials…….
now my first thought is ,buddy you have a boss that hired you to get his co. jobs and here you are lining up jose to maybe get a 100.cash kickback. i want to call the owner and tell this guy whats going on. as i thought about this maybe this has the bosses blessing, jose shows up does the roof a grand cheaper, and he splits it up with the owner and no workman comp, taxes etc. so i call and really look like a azhole.
tell me if your salesman did this do you want me to call and if so how do i go about it tactfully.
if a man speaks in the forest, and there’s not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?

I've been soliciting bids for several projects recently and since I don't have a stable of subs, I'm looking and asking everybody. As a result, I've run into every type.
Your guy actually is in the middle of the pack!
