I live in a 6 yr old home. The walls were an off pale white painted by the builders. This paint is the entire home. I am getting reading to paint the DR and the hallways.
I have just professionally installed wainscoting in the DR halfway up the wall. I want to paint the top of the walls. It is located next to LR, Olive in color furniture (traditional in style). Queen Anne Cherry style tables. Cream carpet throughout the
house. Solid Cherry DR Set. I am having a hard time with picking a color for DR and halls. Please help me with color! Should I go dark over wainscoting or light. Please suggest and help me match it. I have a 9ft ceiling in the LR and everything is open.
3 window in DR. 1 big window in LR. Foyer is next to LR and DR. All open.

Mary, I have a mental picture of the space but none of the info needed to make a recommendation. How do you want the space to feel? Warm and Formal? Cool and airy? Playful and entertaining?
In other words, if the room were a person what kind of personality would it have?
How would you like this person to greet your visitors? Huggy cheek pincher, aloof and graceful, grab them and pull them out on the dance floor for a quick spin?
Color palettes are all about personality. Is there any chance you can post a picture of the space?

Try this link and look at FFCC66 with a dark brown/mahagoni wainscoating, but you might be done with it already.
