Hey All,
Been thinking about this for a while, and Dieselpigs post about tools you wanted, and having four days off to kick back in the shop and putz around, so….
Here goes : I want to build a motorized PAINT BRUSH /ROLLER SLEEVE spinner.
Some parameters: try not to spend much money, Maybe get a buddy involved, Motto,If you can’t make a project out of it , it ain’t worth doin.
I have a wood working shop. lots of crap from 20 yrs. of work and one clean 5 gal. bucket 0r new Garbage can{Plastic}, some fractional H.P. electric motors, 11 H.P.vert. shaft B/S gas engine, condensate pump.
My idea, wood cover ,mounted motor thru cover, some sort of attachment for holding brush, maybe awash pump, but hey I’m open to all suggestions!
There might be some alcohol in involved if it gets late ,so ,keep that in mind if I’m going to be working with power tools.

use a router motor
maybe gear it up for even more speed
do it right, and you won't even have to rinse the brush before spinning it- the centrifugal force should rip the paint right off the bristles
747's turbine...
strap it to a compressor blade.. spun and dried in one swoop...

Get the buddies together and drink a case or three of brewski's. Almost guaranteed something will come out of it.
Post pics.
As Tim Holt told Walter Huston in The Treasure of Sierra Madre, "the worst ain't so bad when it finally happens."
Now yer talking, kinda what Iwas thinking. This time ofyear, time evaporates, and befor you know it, it is mid -January.
No pic capapable, maybe if i've been a good boy .........

i have a manual spinner... has to be 20-30yrs old... it works like an old kids top toy with the "pull the screw part out & it spins..."
i wouldn't over think it... 5 gal bucket... 5 gal bucket lid (cut on the edges so that it snaps off & on very easy but still seals... 3-4" hole in the top
for paint rollers an old roller frame 5 wire is better than 4... remove handle... make adaper that fits a cordless drill chuck it up and spin away...
i have one (maybe more than one ok) of those old type motorized bar glass washers that sit in a sink full of water with like 3-5 brushes sticking up that you the glass washer pushes the glasses down on while they spin to clean te inside and edges of the glass... you could one of these in a bucket and just slip your rollers on the brushes and let em spin in soapy water...
now u have me think'n
p
Bar washer set -up, that 's worth thinking about.
Yea thats what I'm talking about.
I don't like what my spinner does to my Purdy brushes: Tends to splay out the bristles over time, so the brush loses its 'cutting' edge.
after you spin, put the brus back in the package or wrap it in something...
blue tape, tin foil, saran wrap, even paper will work"Dogs don't follow an emotional leader. They follow the dominant leader. We are the only species that follows an unstable leader. "
Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer, in an interview in National Geographic Magazine
I too have found this too be the real differnce maker in having a brush be like new vs. one that's just clean.
What it do to the ugly ones?
Just kiddin ....... Had to ask.
After cleaning do you put back in the card, or are you talking about cleaning while you are painting.
I found the Purdy natural hair brushes to be to soft for general painting. Ox hair Ithink is what they use. I do like them thou for furniture and small stuff.
