I’m finishing the floors in this late Victorian. The owners had the bulk of the painting done by a local painting contractor. To save some $ and experiment with color they rented this man-lift and are painting the trim on their own.

It's a beauty. Maybe they should buy the lift instead of rent. Joe H
Joe,
The husband mentioned that today. They could have used it all fall for painting and repair work. Ya' know how it is when your on rental time....ya' feel guilty if your not using it.
I could have borrowed it to clean my gutters too.

They might as well buy it because re-painting that thing will pretty much be a continuous process. How long can they get out of a paint job around there- 5 to 7 years maybe? Aren't those lifts like $20k? You could probably make it back after a while renting it out.
Andy,
Did a search in the local area and found a diesel 1995 48' man lift with 6260 hrs. for $16,500. Ad said all new hyd. seals and new tires.

Last house I was in I rented a small Bobcat to dig out part of the hill behind my house for an extention I was building..I had the thing almost a month....I KNOW I could have bought one for not much more then the rental I ended up paying for....then could have sold it on Ebay...Wouldnt wanna rent it out due to insurance purposes such as someone getting hurt in it....but still..sometimes it pays to buy used.
Speaking of floors....the amount of times I rented floor sanders I could have owned my own by now. Those machines are seriously expensive and I have no idea why.....
Be well
