hi guy’s,
i’m thinking of putting 6″ v-groove boards on the ceiling all throughout the ground floor of my soon to be built house. but i would like to know what’s the best way to get a good semi-gloss white painted finish, that won’t yellow to easily.
any suggestion’s are appreciated.
good luck!

Just did exactly the same thing in my kitchen.
Probably a painting expert would know the right
way, but this is how I did it. Primed front and
back with oil-based primer so the grain wouldn't
get raised. Applied 2 coats of semi-gloss white
latex enamel. After installation, filled screw holes
with white 2-part polyester filler (bondo). Spot
primed again after sanding. Second coat of enamel
was after installation. Looks good. Had to face
screw it rather than through the tongue like flooring.
My ceilings are nowhere near flat. I also had to
bevel the tongue with a plane. The square edge would
not fit in the groove easily after painting. Also
had to cut many tapered blocks from scrap. Screwed
them to the ceiling and used the matching wedge to
pull the joint tight. I have a spring-loaded pole
like a pogo stick that I use with my laser level.
Springs between floor and ceiling. I used that to
hold each board up the the ceiling temporarily as I
knocked the joints together and got a couple screws in.
