I have recently been ask to supply an estimate for a painting job. Is ther a good rule of thumb for bidding this? I was told $100 per gallon, does that include labor & paint or just labor.

If you are only painting window mullions with that gallon you are hired!
ain't anything simple.

Mike-
Not that estimating is a true "science", but it's a little more scientific than "$100 a gallon", whether that $100 includes or doesn't include labor.
Walls, ceilings, or both? Same color or different? Trimwork- no, same color/sheen, or different? 8' ceilings or 20'? How much prep work is involved? Furniture to move? Floors to protect?
See now why a "rule of thumb" is pretty useless? I estimate for a living, and I run into that kinda stuff every day.

Pricing by the gallon is useless . Ive heard it before and I really dont know how it ever got started as there is no relevence to pricing labor. Ive been asked how many gallons a day I can put on and I have replied almost as many as you want me to put on. They say hows that ? My biggest airless is a gallon per minute . Where you want it ?
