I need to paint a house which is sided with 6″ bevel asbestos cement board siding. It is about 50 years old and has never been painted, but is in good condition. The siding has a smooth exposed surface. Can someone suggest a surface preparation? I am planning to use 100% acrylic primer and paint.

Be careful not to abrade it. How about a good wash with TSP?
Im with Bob, clean it and you are good to go with what you wanted to do. That siding is one of the best materials to hold paint. Expect at least ten years .
