We have just built a new home with a walk in basement. ( The (basement) floor is concrete with the radiant floor heating coils inbedded.) Until we are able to put down a floor covering we would like to paint the concrete. What is the proper way to do this? Your help is appreciated.

What kind of floor covering are you going to eventually put down? If laminate flooring, carpet or hardwood, then ......Is there a vapor barrier under the slab? If not I'd use a sealer (maybe anyway) ... perhaps a urethane or best would be an epoxy formulation made for sealing concrete. (Ventilate and wear a respirator). Seal it before painting it.
Concrete is very porous to moisture .....
Good Luck
