Hello all
I did a search on this, but I can’t get a the right sorts of hits – either my terms are too specific (no results) or too loose (a zillion). So, I’m sorry if this has been asked.
Is there a correct was to color match outlets/plates? I grew up in a house where these were just painted over with latex, but that doesn’t seem right.
My problem is, I made raised panel wainscoting from MDF, which was duely painted a light brown. The problem is the color doesn’t go with the standard white or black outlets or wallplates. I can easily make plate from wood, but the outlets I’m kind of stuck with.
I was thinking about spraypainting them with Krylon Fusion or somesuch.
Any suggestions?

decora wall plate in dark brown - do a search on "decora wall plate brown". Plates are paintable using a good plastic paint (like Fusion); but, you cannot paint the switch/outlet itself. Luckily they come in at least a dozen colours and metalics.

I would not paint the outlet because eventually it will peel. Outlets are never painted in fine work. I try the best to get a color of outlet that goes with the decor, but it's not possible to make it disappear.
