I just took down my exterior shutters to repaint. I am in the process of stripping them down as far as I can get them (i don’t think I will acheive bare wood). What is the best primer and paint to use? Oil based or Latex/brands/etc.?

Wood I assume? Very expensive. I'm (my son) is scraping and painting as I type.
Scraping off all loose coating..spot prime with Ben Moore alkyd, dry o'nite then top coat the whole thing with Ben Moore latex topcoat, Lo Luster MooreGuard, Primer is "Fresh Start"
