So I’ve noticed recently on the home improvement shows that a lot of kitchens are getting renovated. And it seems like in every one on TV, they don’t prime or paint the new drywall before the cabinets are installed. Which I don’t understand. Isn’t it easier to roll on a coat of primer and paint on a blank wall than to work around the cabinets and countertop? I’ve always painted first on the ones I’ve done.
So what do others do in kitchens? Paint first or last? Why?

We generally prime and paint first, then touch up after the cabinets are hung--for the reason you stated.
Cause paintings no fun to watch on TV?
Of course you'd paint first then touch up...duhhhhh.

Only if it's that German guy with the "Joy of Oil Painting" who talked about "You are the almighty artist!..." Oh, not that kind of painting. The worst part is watching it dry.

Must be why I'm not very calm. Watching paint dry is right up there on my things to do list just below watching poker and watching golf. Now, listening to Ernie Harwell on the radio announce the Detroit Tigers games was soothing.
or Roseann singing the national anthem. If Blodgett says, Tipi tipi tipi it must be so!

The painting is done that way on TV beacuse of time restrictions while filming is my guess.
Yeah, filming was my first thought too, though it seems that a solution would be pretty easy. Prime and 1 coat on in the evening/night. Then a 2nd coat later on.Back when I was on prednisone, I was up all night anyway. I would have painted for them...
