Hello all…
I bought solid wood (not solid core ) interior doors. They are 6 panel engineered wood with a [Douglas?] fir veneer.
What is the best primer and paint to use to seal it with and prevent warping ..alkyd/oil-based, latex? acrylic? (Color will be white btw)
1) I live in the Phoenix metro area so high humidity is not an ongoing problem. We generally get “high humidity” (about 50- 60% on and off) from July thru Sept. Rest of the time it’s around 10-20% , if that.
2) there are no pets or kids so the door are not going to be subjected to a lot of abuse.
Thanks

Sanding sealer, then light sand, followed by whatever primer matches your paint. It's an extra step, but you shouldn't have any sanding after primer this way, and it will give you a more uniform paint surface. My choice of primer would be Sherwin Williams multi purpose acrylic-alcyd, but wherever you are getting your paint will have a suitable primer.
Thank you...
OK, I'm kind of ignorant about this, but what is a "Sanding sealer"?
Really, what is it (in layman's terms)?
And what are some examples of it, as in brands, where to find it etc. Thanks
Sanding sealer is most commonly used in clear or stained wood finishes. It seals the pores in the wood, prevents the grain from raising when subsequent layers of finish are applied and provides an easy to sand surface.
It is an extra step, but I feel the time saved in sanding along with the more consistent surface makes it worthwhile. Any finish store can point you towards sanding sealer.
OK...that Answer helps quite a lot. Thank you.
