We are using various new, good quality wooden and vinyl windows in the home we are building. I have never painted vinyl exteriors, but have heard Valspar severe weather is appropriate for vinyl siding and windows. Does this work? Has anyone tried it?

Sorry, but something is wrong with this picture.
The idea is not painting to a darker color as the exterior vinyl can be adversely affected by the direct sun rays in heat retention more so with the darker hues.
Of course wooden windows with the vinyl covering wouldn't be quite as risky.
I've used an oilbased product with good results in there has been no peeling in something like seven-eight years.

The quick answer is.... yes you can paint vinyl siding and vinyl windows... but- and it's a big but- Be aware that you will be voiding all product warranties and then make sure that you use a very high quality acrylic paint product in as light a color and shade as you can. Darker colors may well cause heat build up to deform the siding. Same goes for the windows although they are a bit more rigid. If the windows are sliders the paint will wear quickly where it slides in the track and overlaps in the center.
Cheaper in the long run and a lot better quality wise to bite the bullet and buy products that are the same brand and color at least for the siding.
