Battery packs can detach from the power tool unexpectedly and strike the operator or bystander, resulting in injuries.
Incidents/Injuries: Two reports of batteries detaching have been received. No injuries have been reported.
Description: Only battery packs manufactured between May 1, 2001 and Nov. 20, 2002, with model numbers EY9230, EY9136, EY9231, EY9200, EY9106 and EY9201 stamped on the top of the battery pack are included in this recall. The battery pack is black and yellow.

It is #3 on the menu so you don’t need to wait through the message.
Look for the date codes that are on top of the “post” with the contacts. If it is in the recall it will have a 5 digit number that starts with 1 or 2.
Older ones have a 6 digit date code. For example mine are 990716, July, 16, (19)99 and are not in the recall.

I just got off the phone with Panasonic and mine do qualify for the recall. They'll send out packaging and postage for the return but will not send new batteries until the old ones are received. Said it takes around two weeks to get the new ones, no other way around it. Make sure you have a back up. Thanks again Bill. -Ed
