I’m building my own house and am now running the electrical. It’s a standard ranch with garage and have been told by VA power that the service box would need to be located on the outside wall of the garage. I have located my panel box on the back wall, just inside the steps going into the house from the garage, running the wires up and over the truss and into the house. My question is, with the fire rated sheet rock that these wires need to run through between the garage and house, how do I do it? How do I sheet rock around this? Conduit? What about the exposed wires in the garage rafters? I don’t want to have to sheet rock my entire garage…Thanks

That's a thing to ask your local BI. In some localities they simply want small holes, in others they'd want fire caulk, and a few might require some sort of conduit.
I think the fire caulk should both meet most codes and provide reasonable real-life protection, but, again, check with your BI. How you fit the rock around the cables is up to you, but it would make most sense to leave out a section until the wiring is done, then fit it in tight to the wires.
Another thing to consider is installing some unused conduit between the garage and a convenient attic location, for future wires. Plug the ends of the conduit, to make the fire guys happy.
