Okay, I’ve tried to attach a crude computer sketch, but it doesn’t seem to work. I’m helping a buddy fix a wall in his basement bathroom. The walls are panelling, and there is one piece that has been removed and needs to be replaced. The shower is a shower stall constructed of block, and the piece of panelling that was on that outside wall of the shower is the one that needs to be replaced. Originally, someone nailed the panelling right into the block with panelling nails. There isn’t really enough room to put in furring strips, as the toilet is right there and it is a fairly cramped space. Can I attach the piece of panelling with construction adhesive instead? My plan was to use construction adhesive, just like tub surrounds, and wedge some boards against it from the neighboring wall to support it while it dries. He’s selling his house, and just wants this one piece replaced so it’s ready for showings. It doesn’t need to be a professional job. Thanks in advance.

Okay, I guess the attached drawing did work......so well, it's there twice. The drawing is crude at best, and they are the same drawing. Sorry about that.
I'd probably use const adhesive for that myself, should be ok. Follow the instructions, which usually have you to put a line of adhesive along the seams and blobs in the field, smoosh it against the wall, pull loose, let dry a bit, then push it back in place. The paneling may pull loose if you dont let the adhesive flash off before final placement of the paneling.
