Paslode (gas) vs. Senco (air) Nailers
I need to buy a stand-alone nail gun for finishing and installing shutters and I’m torn between the Senco Air Free and the Paslode finish nailer.
I’m hoping to draw on the wisdom and experience of the community.
Thank you.

nyc-- I have the paslodes and think they are great. I've only used the Senco brad nailer a few times, but I don't like the waiting time between pulling the trigger and the gun firing. Keep the Paslodes clean and they'll serve you well.If possible, try firing each one before you buy to get a feel for each one.
Thanks for your reply.

I've used one and it felt okay, but since I was working indoors, the exhaust gas is kind of unpleasant. Especially when you're up on a ladder where it all seems to collect.

It doesn't seem to bother Tom Silva. I've seen him use a Senco air nailer in several different segments over the years.
I like the Paslode guns myself. I'd be curious to see if Tom Silva uses the Senco off camera. Are they a sponsor/advertiser which would force him to use it on the show? Like the New Yankee Workshop is sponsored by Porter Cable/Delta thus Norm uses anything they make. It's how they promote their products. People buy them to be like Norm, Tom, etc.... I'll stick with my smelly Paslode.

I'm with RICHIE, Paslode it is, and I hardly even notice the gas unless I'm in a closet or some cofined area, then I usually dont stay there to long.

I gotta throw in one more vote for the Paslode. I have the 18 guage, 16 guage straight, 16 guage angled, and the framer. Thought about switching over to the Senco's a while back, but once I got the finish nailer in my hand there was no way I could switch - the Senco's felt so much more bulky. I never even had to shoot one and find out about the delay people mention - It just felt wrong, compared to the Paslodes.
