Any Paslode impluse nailer users out there?
Mine (circa 1997, batteries likewise) won’t fire. Cleaned it per the manual. The fan spools up. The battery light shows green. But nothing fires.
Any thoughts?
Like – outta gas. I believe that is a can can on it. But…

This the framer or the finish gun?

I'm guessing you haven't used it for a long time and the fuel cell is bad.
They loose goodness over time and they started putting expiration dates on them.
One way to test if it is fullis to remove the fuel cell and push the injector against a stud. You will hear and see a squirt of fuel. if you do this six or seven times, it will keep squirting, but if it only shows fuel on the first squirt or two, it is empty.
Also, remember that these will not fire below 20°F

Addedum -It's the orange framer and cold is not an issue here. Would that it were.It was 82 on the job this week and we were frying. So Cal in the winter. Beats the NWet in the winter.The ToolBear

cells left in heat on adash or whatever are quicker to lose their charge then in cool storageAlso, be sure the carburator is all the way on. They ship partly detached to prevent leakage and need to be plugged in tight to the fuel cel

P - Good tip. Check the gas. Yes, one was a deader. However, the other worked well when the right angle thingie was removed, but not at all when it was installed. Plugged up?As the expiration dates were about 5 years ago, I should get some new cells and try, try again.The ToolBear

I'd check the gas. Pull off the metering valve and push the pin in (not with your finger) on a piece of wood or something and see if anything comes out. If not its bad.

Guess that is a lie now - I sold my straight 16 gauge to Rez a while back when his got stolen.
I have to agree with everyone else - check the gas.
I had a lot of trouble with my 18 gauge when I first got it. Thought it must have been a manufacturing defect - as I had had such good luck with all the other Impulse guns. Also thought they might have had a problem as this was when the unit first came out - had to buy online - most of the dealers around here were unaware of the 18 gauge and the few that were said it would be months before they got one.
Brought it in to the repair shop and they said it worked fine - they told me about gas issues and apparently I got a bad pack.
Bought new gas and it has worked fine ever since.

The impulse doesn't shoot? That doesn't surprise me.
I've also owned one since about 1997. I never could get it to shoot more than three nails in a row ever since it was brand new. I took it back and they said it was fine. Other guys could make it work somewhat.
I don't think I've managed to shoot 50 nails total out of it. I'd rather hand pound than pick that thing up.

I'm surprised to hear that. I've got a framer and two angled finish nailers and have not had many problems at all. Actually, the biggest problem i've had is the battery contacts get dirty and get a bad connection. I've probably shot five thousand nails through my framer.
Here's an old tip for dirty contacts. Comes from owning an electric race car track that used to corrode in the basement.
A pencil eraser cleans contacts real well.
Great idea for the batteries but not so much for the contacts in the tool. Those are a little more difficult to clean.

my impulse framer hasn't had a lot lf use, but it's never let me down.
i once trimmed an entire 8,000 sq. ft. house with just my Paslode trimmer, also without a problem.
Sounds like you got a lemon.
along with all the suggestions about the fuel cell, check to make sure the drive pin isn't part way down. If that's not all the way back up after firing, it won't fire again.
When that happens to me, I know it's time to clean the gun.
That happens to me every third time I clean the gun and forget to check the piston position

I've gotten to the point where it's one of the first things I check when it won't fire.
that, and making sure I don't have the depth adjustment too far in or out.
I tend to learn the hard way.
It got a cleaning and lube with the approved fluid. I do wonder about the batteris. One fires. One is a deader. Since the gun is 8 yrs old, to be expected. My laptop batteries are good for about 2 years.The ToolBear

had a problem with mine with gas - there's a little triangle piece that needs to be aligned properly with the gas cartridge - not aligned properly ,no gas - no "shoot" -something else to check
I'll check the triangle bit in the gun. Got it working with a gas can that would deliver with the head on vs. others that won't. Course, now the job is formed up and ready to pour. But there will be others.The ToolBear

the trigger switch may have failed or just be dirty, there's also a micro switch there if I remember that's critical

As said before , old gas or an occasional bad new cell is #1 thing to check. Next, make sure the nose piece fully depresses when firing. These can get out of adjustment and if not sliding in all the way, wont let it fire. If all else fails, it could be a bad spark unit. We had one go bad a few years ago. Had to take it to service center for that.
Nosed ression reminds me - If the O-ring is otrn, or not fully seated straight, there will be no compression and no fire in the hole.To see how th eO-ring is seating, you can remoe the air filter and look in the grill while depressing the tip

I've had the same problem. Ended up being the spark unit on two different occasions.
I've had the set screws for the depth adjustment back out until they hang and keep my framer from firing.
