I’m looking for an easy to use program to model passive solar gains and determine daily temperature swings, taking thermal mass into account. My theory is that there should be a way to determine what the temperature of a house would be (theoretically) with no input of “bought” energy, with the goal of being able to guarantee a house will never drop below X degrees, regardless of whether the power is on or the woodstove stoked. ??

I remember reading about some software somewhat along the lines of what you seek, but can't remember where - possibly at one of the US energy labs.
While it is not quite what you want, you might look at QuickPlan from the U of Florida:
