Our lake cabin recently burned down. It had old, large knotty pine walls, 10″ wide with a wonderful patina, probably no stain, lacquer only. I had previously tried to recreate that look using tinted stain and varnish but wasn’t happy. Is there any way to “age” or patina knotty pine like there is for oak?

If it had a finish on it, it may have been shellac. You could try some orange shellac, but 50 or 100 years of wood smoke, kerosene lamp soot, lamp oil, candles & nicotine stains aren't in just one can.
