I’m in the planning phase of building an outdoor/detached patio cover. I’m considering the materials list and would like to go with metal post, 4. I’ve never use metal in building. Are there pros and cons? One con is price. I haven’t priced metal post. Yet I imagine the cost is much higher than wood post. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Lemme see...detached metal patio cover. How about one of those glass top tables with the aluminum pole sticking up through the middle and a big round metal roof on top? They come with matching chairs and chaise lounges too.
Then too, there's those square roofs with metal frames that collapse and fold up, in about one minute.
But cereal-ly, why not ask about building an arbor over your patio, something made of wood? Or just google "arbor plans."
