I just checked mine, doesn't look like it will clear the blade gaurd, why do you want to use the bigger blade?

How do you like that saw boss?
I've thought about picking one up a few times but never have yet.
I have the sawboss, blade on left , plenty of power for a small saw. I used wormgear skilsaws for years, bought the sawboss to haul up on a roof. I use it extensively now for cutting doors, light framing, trim work, practically anything. Takes only 6" blades, blades are readily available.I believe a right handed saw is available also. I rate this saw very high.

Like the others, I love mine, especially great for trim work. Plenty of power for a 6 in. saw, I've never had a problem with it feeling under powered.
Blades can be hard to come by around here, but the lumber yard can order them and the PC outlet in KC stocks them, or did last time I bought some, and I think Forrest makes a 40 or so tooth blade for it if you want the spend the money.
It was my first circular saw about 10 years ago, doesn't get used everday, but it still runs like new.
If you're looking for just a small trim saw, check out the PC baby worm drive, it's more $ then the boss, but I liked it the few times I have had the chance to use one.

Thanks all for the input on the saw boss. I have a PC 347 that I have been using for about 8 years and I really like it. Whenever I see one of those little saw bosses with the blade left it seems like it might be nice for some things. Certainly not a real need for one, but, what's that got to do with anything?
Thanks again,
Shoe

You had me worried there for a moment, before I read the second part of that sentence I thought you might have needed help. ;)
Need should never be a just basis nor should need ever be considered when contemplating a new tool purchase unless you are deciding between two different tools, and in that case you really ought to just pick them both up anyway and save the later trip.Never be afraid to try something new. Hey Shoeman,
The pc sawboss rocks I use mine for almost everything. You should definitely get one, and get the dust hose with it. the hose doesn't exactly fit my shopvac but it really helps.

I love my sawboss, I use it almost exclusively for general construction. I have a worm-drive for heavy stuff, but it's hard on my shoulder and tries to rip my arm off on a regular basis. Not only is the sawboss the perfect size and weight, the blade is open on the side where a right handed person could actually see where they're cutting. I've never understood why other saws want you to bend into a pretzel to see what you're doing. The 6 1/2" blades will not fit, however, a couple of companies do make the proper size, and when I find them on sale, I buy lots of them, and also sharpen the ones I've got.
I have a PC Saw Boss and love it for light to medium duty work that requires some precision. There are other blade left saws available, but none as maneuverable and versatile as the Saw Boss. I love it when I have to cut in an odd position such as hanging off the side of a building cutting off rafter tails. Only 6" blades will fit, and they can be a bit hard to come by locally, but I have several, and send them out with other blades I "stock" for sharpening.
Having said that, IMO the Saw Boss has 2 drawbacks: I don't know what the guy who designed the blade pointer (or whatever you call it) was thinking; the guide marks on the front of the saw. It seems about 1/2 useless, and don't see much point in it being adjustable as that makes just another thing to get out of wack... Secondly, the shoe of the saw is heavy stamped sheet metal - not alloy, so it can bend. I find a circ saw with and alloy shoe to be more durable.
And that base is expensive. Mine got kicked down a flight of stairs to a concrete basement floor below, bent all to hell, 40 bucks to fix, that was 3 years ago.

I almost bought that saw last week. What's the maximum depth of cut?

>>What's the maximum depth of cut?<<
I believe it is 1 9/16" at 45 degrees.
I'd guess 2.25" at 90 degrees, but it's just a guess.Matt
