I see this recommended at SPLASH and at JLConline.
Downloaded to my laptop on a sat system in 14 minutes and it looks like it’ll take me about 2 hours ten minutes here at home on dialup.
But from the 10-15 minutes I spent playing with it on the laptop, I think it’ll be worth it. Good for clients to mark up a drawingaor for me to add notes and arrows on transmittal s.Â

As soon as I saw I could enter into a typewriter mode, I decided I'd give it a whirl. I'll give you a report as soon as I try it out.
Piffin, that program looks like the cats meow. I tried the typewriter mode and I could immediately type into an existing pdf document that I had on my desktop. I saved the revised file and it opened with adobe and the typewritten data was right there!
I've been looking for something that would give me a typewriter mode. Thanks!
What is slash?
I think it's "SPLASH", the Soft Plan users group.

Thanks Piffin.
I like that I can make my logo a "rubber stamp". I can also run the opacity down to 20% creating in effect a watermark.
I can print a sketch or drawing using PDF995 and then add the watermark and/or stamps on the drawing for the client to consider while making it difficult to shop price based on my drawing.
Slick tool, thanks again!
Hadn't considered the watermarking, but just did some this past weekend on another kind of project in Word Perfect. It is a good thing to have.

Thanks for the link....
You're a WP user?
I may have to take back some of the things I've been thinking. <G>
FWIW, I've been creating pdfs straight from WP for the past 2 or 3 versions.
(I'm not rreal impressed with it's pdf import, but.....)

If WP v9 counts....I just got started using open office, the free open doc programs that emulate the corel and MS office suites.
but I default to my trusty old WP still at times.I have adobe for creating PDF documentation, but was still very impressed with this PDF editor/forms filler/markup machine.

Until OO can come up with Reveal Codes, I'll stick with WP I'm om X3)

I used the open office for a while. The antivirus program took so long to scan things that I'd get bored waiting for every doc to open. I went back to Word.
I also didn't like that no one that I sent the stuff too could open it unless they had open office so I had to save it as word docs too. That was just more time.
Hi Jim & All,
I also didn't like that no one that I sent the stuff too could open it unless they had open office so I had to save it as word docs too. That was just more time.
Been a little while since I actively used OpenOffice.org.....love it all around though.....but the last time I was using it regularly......you could set the "default save" mode to MSWord so you didn't have to go through a double save everytime.
For a free pdf "printer" I like PrimoPDF. Been problem free for years. For a full on editor I like NitroPDF by the same company.....their free printer driver is their loss leader to get you interested in the editor.....but for a multifunction pdf editor.....$69 at pcconnection and you can try 14 days for free at their website. Didn't mean to place a free plug but it is a good product for the $. I'll check out the other mentioned here too.
Pedro the Mule - Can I be made into a PDF? I could then be beamed across the country in seconds.
Thanks for the PDF editor suggestion. $69 sounds quite reasonable as comared to an Adobe writer.
What caused you to stop using Open Office? One thing I didn't like was their spreadsheets compared to excel. I also tried google spreadsheets and again, preferred excell. I actually cut my teeth on the google spreadsheet but gravitated to excel but I don't remember why.
Hi Jim,
What caused you to stop using Open Office?
Well it's more why I started using it.....I'll explain it backwards.....
I'm a systems integrator and network security specialist and as such for business compatibility I have a rather strong leaning towards using and setting up the Microsoft line of products. There are many great products on the market but the areas I am primarily focused in have me involved with professions that need to centralize their core in particular areas, thus I use the MSOffice product in my own office and home......wheeewwwwww
Now, as I also volunteer my time providing needs based children with computers and also some non profits, I needed a way to provide software to these folks without additional unnecessary costs. I found several nice apps available for free to homes and non profits. Some focused on performance and size, others on compatibility. I found OpenOffice.org to be the best all around. I understand they've been tinkering with a shared contact/calendar interface but it has not yet surfaced. I think this would really round out their product and make it a strong competitor of MS concerning small business.
So, I never really left the MSOffice line, simply worked with another product/OpenOffice.org to make certain I felt comfortable recommending the product for certain uses.

FWIW, if you used the best word processor, WordPerfect, you wouldn't need to worry about viruses in the documents AND you could produce pdfs directly from within WP in just a few seconds.
I do almost all doc sharing with pdf's anyway.
Rarely, if other's need to edit, I'll also share as rtf but that loses all lot of formating.

I can produce pdfs easily and I normally do just that if I'm sending them anywhere.
Open office has a one touch PDF button too.
I dont' have word perfect and if I ever get it I'll give it a whirl. In the meantime, my Word docs are opening as fast as I want/need and I know they are being scanned. If I had wordperfect, I would also scan them. I was just listening to computer geeks on talk radio talking about some very big holes in apple products that apple was stalling on fixing till they went public. Apple isn't 100% safe.
Andy, this is the one I was referring to, but maybe it is not a writer, only a viewer. And does not look like it is a apple fan either
