I’ve got a friend with a mobile home (actually its a little trailer with a Florida room attached). The FL room’s roof began to leak a few months ago and she’d like to fix it before the rainy season. I went to see it, and having no experience with this sort of thing I’m left wondering what would be the best solution. The room’s roof is made of 4′ x 13′ aluminum panels at a 2:12 pitch terminating beneath the flashing where it joins into the trailer’s roof. The panel’s joints were finished off with mesh tape and a white sealant, probably troweled on. Anyhow these joints have long cracks in them. Water is definitely entering here.
I was thinking of cleaning and patching the existing roof, then going over the whole thing with a peel-and-stick type roof made for aluminum. Thoughts?
