I have a friend whose wife picked out some low end American Standard faucets and shower valves for their new house. He wants to spend a little more and has picked out some slightly more expensive Peerless faucets and valves.
He called for my opinion. I told him I liked American Standard and use them whenever given the choice, but did not know enough about Peerless to give him an opinion.
Any opinions on Peerless out there that I can pass along to him?

I'll never understand why people will spend $200K on a house and then try to save $ by putting in cheap plumbing fixtures and faucets. Forget Peerless and Price Pfister. If he's willing to go the extra $ move up to a better American Standard, a Gerber, a Kohler, a Delta or a Moen. Symmons and Grohe are also excellent faucets.
American Standard and Gerber both offer ceramic cartridges in their faucets - especially nice in hard water areas because they don't wear out as fast. Delta's ball valving has been around for years and is easy to repair. Moen is good but after years of use, the cartridge can be difficult to remove, although Moen will send you a replacement cartridge free of charge. Gerber and, I believe American Standard also, have a lifetime replacement warranty on their cartridges.
Remember too, the faucet you get at the big box stores may not be the same quality as you will get from your plumbing contractor. They may LOOK the same, but the quality of the one at the big box may be lower. Always compare faucets by model numbers, not just style and model name.
Be sure to get pressure balancing faucets and if possible get one with integral stops so you can shut the water off at the faucet in order to do repairs.

Peerless is Delta or vice versa.
Actually I just looked it up. Peerless and Delta or both owned by Masco.
I don't know about the other parts and features, but both of them use the same ball and seals.
You're right about corporate ownership and the ball and seals, but Delta quality in the overall faucet is better.
