Pellet Stove soot on wall Help!!
I have a 2 year old Harmon Pellet stove insert. I was sold on the fact that it was a sealed unit. It seems that soot is being blown onto my wall above the stove. It looks like a faint shadow. I showed it to the guys that came to service it. They said it’s normal !! Is it really?

sound to me like your flue is leaking some where i've had one close to 10 years no soot on my wall
no soot or ash on our walls.
This is 4th season using pellet stove.

Normal, maybe but not correct! Get a better service guy!
Sounds like the wall above your stove is uninsulated. A cold spot in a warm room allows condensation to occur.
Dirt, dust etc. sticks to the moisture, however slight, and creates a dark spot.
I don't know a thing about pellet stoves, but have been using wood stoves since the early 70s. What happens to the ash?
If you have to remove the ash from inside, my guess would be that a lot of the ash you're getting into your house comes from that part of the operation even if you shovel directly from the stove, or ash drawer/pit directly into a covered ash container.
That's something that's almost impossible to avoid.
At the end of the day, the ash from a pellet stove fits in the bottom of a little cup.
Wood stoves are an entirely different animal.
