Pergula?

seeyou | Posted in Photo Gallery on June 29, 2008 02:24am

This is not really a pergula, but I don’t know what else to call it. Just about finished this thing today. I’ll ( I mean McDesign’s electrician ) hang the ceiling fan and finish wiring it tomorrow.

Had no idea you did stuff like this. Is the roof copper? Same place as the downspout chains?

Is the roof copper? Same place as the downspout chains?

The roof is TPO ( I had a partial roll left over and it was exactly enough for this roof) with copper drip edge and custom gutter on the low side. The downspout chains are on a client's house. The "pergula" is at my house. But I'm going to do a rain chain on it eventually. http://grantlogan.net

Thanks. I just got a fast education on polymer roofing materials. The chemist can fill in the rest when she gets home. But now I'm curious. How do you close the seams? I saw something referencing hot welds and cold welds. You run a torch and melt them together?Steve --- clearly out of his element'Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it' ~ Chinese proverb

You run a torch and melt them together?

Not a torch -  a heat weld gun made specifically for the task. But yes, the seams are "melted" together.http://grantlogan.net

Looks pretty cool.  Is that so you can grill in the shade?

What are those, 12' 6x6's?  Freshly treated, that's worth a grunt when you lift 'em up.

Is that so you can grill in the shade?

      Nope. In the rain.

Actually, our deck faces west and gets direct sun in the late afternoon/early evening when we would most likely be out there. In six years, we've hardly used the deck. This gives us some shade and also blocks the summer sun out of the picture windows in the family room.
