Perimeter ground heaving in winter
Suggestions on metal skirting repair at perimeter base of slab home. Each winter the frozen ground heaves and damages the metal to the point where the metal is warped, bent, folded on to itself and looks awful. Should I strip the top soil away from the home and replace it with rock? Does the earth around the home need a layer of horizontal underground rigid insulation extending out 2 to 3 feet from the home to deflect the cold. Do I demo the first 3 feet of the original steel siding and install a rock facade? I really need a permanent lasting repair here! Same situation has occurred on our outbuilding shop. Help!!!!

You have a couple good ideas that can help
You also can look at ways to get water away from the structures. (gutters and pipes to direct water away)
Direct free advice will be better if you can post a few photos.
Where are you?
Horizontal rigid foam under the surface is the answer. Google “frost protected shallow foundation” for details.
