Took a little trip last weekend up into the Andies mountains to a couple Quechuan Indian villages.
Interesting to see the people living pretty much entirely off the land.
They say one of these houses lasts 15 to 20 years……Then they just make more bricks!

Are these the same type of houses that USED to be in Kashmir?
i'm curious about the "last 15 to 20 years".
is it a slow melt, or do they just suddenly crumble one day?

It rains a lot up there.....
So it is a melt more or less. Adobe bricks---mud+straw+baked in sun 2 weeks= not very waterproof.
I included a picture of one that is degrading.
On the other hand, they have a few buildings built with stone and mortar, that last a LOng time (therefore Machu Pichu). Here is a picture of one that is supposedly 400 years old or so--
When in doubt, get a bigger hammer!
