PEX piping for landscaping sprinklers??

I’m planning to put in a new landscaping sprinkler system in my yard. I just read the article on PEX piping, and I’ve installed a lot of pex in home remodeling. I’m wondering if anyone has ever used it for outdoor sprinklers. I’ve got clean soil, and good pressure. I live in Oregon and the freeze depth only drops about 6 inches deep, I would be installing at 1 foot or lower. I would also install auto drains in any obvious low spots. It may cost more than PVC but it seems a really quick way to do it.
Does anyone have any experience with this or any reasons why it wouldn’t work?
Thanks

I noticed the article said something about PEX not being suitable for direct burial in acidic soils- would that be a concern there?

How would you make the connections? Cost of fittings might be a problem.
PVC is not the only way to do sprinkers.
PE (polyethalene) is also used. Has barbed fittings. And it can be installed with a vibrating plow.
PEX is way too expensive for sprinkerlers. Use PE irrigation grade pipe with the appropriate fittings - it works well and is easy to install. Lowes, HD, Ace all have it in the sprinker section.
Also, I live in the Portland area as well (Sherwood).
