I have a challenge, and it is to find some cultured stone that will be a reasonable match, when viewed up across the roof at the chimney stack, to the real stone used to face the base of the house down at ground level.
The two don’t come within even close proximity of each other. Look in this pic and you will see what I mean.
I have seen the product lines from Owens Corning’s Cultured Stone business, and also from Eldorado Stone. Who else is out there with phony stone?

Gene,
Nice home in the photo! We use a large amount of the peel & stick stone ( thats what we call the phony stuff here). We have used the Eldorado stone in the past. Right now we use a local stone company, and save a good % because the shipping cost is less. The stone is called Sunset Stone. We have used an other local brand also but I will have to check on the name today .
I think there are quite a few other small companys that make the same product, a call to the big local brick suppliers might get you some more answers.
what we did on my barn was to use stone with a deeper section (some stick-on stones are WAY too flat to ever seem real), and also to mix in some from other styles/makers. The mixing of types helped a lot to increase the impression of real. One other thing we did was to NOT rake out all the joints perfectly, but to be a little sloppy and even get a little on the stone face in places. This helped to increase the impression that human hands laid each stone.Came out great on my 100 yr old barn, matching quite well with the original foundation.hope this helps,
Norm
