Anybody keep track of their photos with organizing software? I have Vista as the OS and did migrate from Adobe Elements 4 to Elements 6 and the combination of the version 6 and Vista and really bad software has made it imperative to change software.
Recommendations and experiences appreciated.

Irfanview gives a very nice suite of tools, with a very handy thumbnail viewer.
Picassa is probably the best wintel option out there, within its limitations. It organizes things into albums so it emulates how a person might cope with actual photographs. What it can be finicky with are things that "go" into more than one album. Or when you might need more than one of the same thing--a raw copy, a half-size for emailing or posting and a thumbnail.
Now, some of that is my bias from a photographer's bias, where the neagtiveis the thing--printed photos are just an output.
I happen to use Hamrick's VuePro, but that comes from being an early adopter years (decade+) ago.
Now, for a graphical editor, you might check out Gimp, which is an open-source program.
Thanks all. I'm now also looking at Windows Live Photo Gallery. So far it looks kind of nice. Will check out the others tonight.Nobody gets in to see the wizard...not nobody...not no how!
I downloaded VuePrint when I got my first camera, an old HP something that came with Microsoft PictureIt©.
That Microcrap grabbed every picture file in my compute and converted it to PictureIt©
Found VuePrint and never looked back. Think it was $10 or $15 bucks?

That's what I remember paying, back in the dark ages.
It will thumbnail, if not like irfanview (irfanview has one up on them in that it will make a "contact sheet" of thumbnails). Spiffy slideshow utility in VuePro. Not too shabby a screensaver utility, for what that's worth.Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
i will second the vote for Picasa

it's free, too !

The defacto answers are Picasa or iPhoto (if on a Mac).
