Have you looked at trhe home page for FHB or FWW, under the 'submitting an article' section? Or email one oif the most excellent editors.
Do it right, or do it twice.
I seem to remember that the suggestions for photographing your work are located on the "Current Work" pages (of Fine Woodworking -- don't know about FHB).
