I’ve been looking for a roof rack for my Tundra/Cap. Seems the only thing available are the ‘dainty’ ski racks or ugly white behemoths you see on vans. You guys have any sources/links?
Thanx!

System One makes a rack to work with caps. There are extension plates that stick out past the underside of the cap. The legs of the rack come down the outside sides of the cap and rest on these plates.
Ok I checked my System One catalog and they are called cantilever mounts made from 3/16" stainless $89

Hopefully Pro-Deck will chime in here. I remember seeing his rig and admiring it. I think there's a pic in the roll out tool box thread.
Yeah, here it is http://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime/messages?msg=40938.2

Yep and those rack's on ProDek's rig are Kargo Master. Best racks out there if you ask me. I think the rating is a whopping 1700 lbs. Had 'em on my last F-350. Use 'em with a cap no problem as long as you order the right ones. Widely available online too...just Google 'em.
my electrician uses a rack set up that he found in a boat supply place ...
sets on the cap ... strong enough for a good size boat ...
plenty strong for some ladders and the occasional material run.
The rack is probably stronger than the fiberglass cap under it.

I have always had mine made at the local welding shop, they can cost $500 to $800 depending on what material you use and how fancy you want it.

Pro-dek's rack looks great.....however, I was looking for something a little less conspicuous, but carry more weight then a ski rack. I'll probably be buying a van this summer and I'd like to keep the PU not looking too much like a work vehicle.....if I can help it.
Thanks for the help, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for exists.
