I had to delete all my stair pictures so I could post those gun pictures. If an when they allot us say 25 Megs, I will start brand new threads with the same pictures. I must have 150 pictures in my computer that I can upload anytime.
Sysop Mark has indicated he has some control over this. He recently learned that and is trying to discover the limits of his powers re this. Besides upping the limit at some point, he will also be giving tips on making the same pictures require less space. I know that I, for example, have software that can take a 100 mg jpg and sometimes make it maybe 50, and I can't tell the diff in quality. It's Mac, though. Mark may know of Windows stuff for this.
Stan, here's an example of your one 96K picture I resaved--dropped to 60-something--and then resaved with a different quality--dropped to 30-something but there's no important loss of quality. Do something like that and you can store almost 3 times as much stuff in the same space.
Cloud, Apparently Windows has something like this, a computer savy friend of mine is working on getting me set up; as soon as I can get him over here I will pass it on.
Someone here told me a bout a freeware program that will manage images. I didn't have any trouble using it, and I'm no brain surgeon. You can download it here:

It has the capability to save in different quality levels, as you mentioned.
BTW - Cropping a picture to take away unnecessary parts can make a lot of difference, too.

Pro, you have to get a yahoo account to show off your photos. Mine is this one. Check out the work I have done with the house I'm building. Check out the tile I've done on it...too..............

this doesn't make a lot of sense... if i'm limited to 1mg... and everyone else is too, then the board has an abundance of unused assets.. because the average poster is never going to post pictures unless everyone changes their behavior patterns from the past...
apparently , the average person doesn't post anything.... they just read...
so setting a limit of 100 mg instead of 1 mg... would achieve the same end...because the other 99 are not even posting text.... never mind graphics...how are we going to have animation wars.... and cad discussions of theoretical mathematic principles... never mind my own humble efforts at plain vanilla construction...if i pare each pic down to 20 from my average of 80... it still doesn't get us anyplaceMike Smith

That's what would make a lot more sense. Instead of limiting each poster to 1 meg, why not have a large pool for pics that anyone can use. Then, we all get to benefit. I don't post pics, but I sure did like to view the pics you folks posted. It has been a great learning experience that now is lost to me. That is a real degradation in features of this new board that i really miss.Mary

*cough* make a mule account to post more pictures *cough*
but it is a pain in the butt to be limited. Many times photos in this type of forum can help you out by helping to convey your message as much as passing along your work.
It may be a prospero thing and not a taunton thing :(
Prospero- people are talking is anyone listening?????????????????Bob

Dag nabbit! There was a time that checking the phot gallery daily barely kept up with the great pics Pro-Dek and others shared.
This is SAD. ...that's not a mistake, it's rustic
I'm not intrested in going to the work of creating another page elsewhere to store and manage my photos. I've got thousands and can barely remember where they are on my hard drive. My reason for posting pictures and drawings is to help someone out in understanding what I'm talking about to find a solution to their problems. I'm not an ego poster and have no intention of (yawn) boring anyone with a full spread of all my work. Most of my high end clients would be feeling an invasion of their privacy if they saw any of their work here so I seldom post the best stuff.
But if Taunton and prospreo need to deny readers here the possibility of learning from my work by hobbling my horse at the picketwire, so be it. It's gotten hard enough to post them when I do - three times as many clicks and waits....sigh!

I always thought the best of the pics were the "this is how I did it" shots. A picture really is worth a thousand confused posts. ...that's not a mistake, it's rustic
Which brings us back to the issue of prosperonian confusion...
LOL

Try posting this directly to the Sysop over in the Sandbox
In fact I just went over there to get the link to post and that same question was at the top.
