I have free-standing hot water radiators fired by oil in my old house. When relocating some of the radiators, the heating guy used some of the black iron pipes from Home Depot for the supply runs to the radiator. Later I was informed that the black pipes are intended for gas, and that we should have used galvanized. Is this true, and should I go back and remove the black pipe? These are 1″ pipes.
Thanks.

It is common to use black pipe as manifolds etc. on hot water heating systems. You don't need to be concerned.
*All zoning codes are local, esentially. Ask your building department what is allowed in your area. Black steel pipe can rust, faster in some water chemistries than others. But I have seen it last 85 years before failing in some areas. -David
