Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Did you get the job?
If so, did you find a place to stay?

Went by yesterday and looked it over. Discussed it with my client (a middleman who brokers these worker's comp accessibility jobs), and he says the insurance people said to submit a bid as I discussed it with him.
So, so far it looks good. Saw a couple of motels, one advertising $250/night business rate. I'd sure like to pay less than that!
These type jobs usually take months to get out of the starting gate. I just got the green light on one I bid 2 1/2 months ago. And I just got my final check on one I finished 1 1/2 months ago!
Gotta love it.

"Know anything about the permitting process in Tracy?"
Sorry, I don't have any idea.
Best of luck to you.

If you are still looking for a place to stay, you might try:stockton craigslist > housing > sublets & temporary

$250.00 a night?? For a hotel.? Man that can't be the only one there. I try to stay at Holiday inn Express. They never want to bargain down much. The ones we stay at anyway. I learned a trick a few months ago. Tell them you do work for Walmart. (Once in awhile we do) They will normaly take $20.00 off the rate.

I'm from Modesto, not all that far from Tracy. When I go back I stay in a Motel 6 for around 50 bucks a night. Tracy ain't Paris... keep looking and I'm sure you'll find a much cheaper place to stay. Good luck!
Heck, Huck(I made a funny) How about a small trailer on a local campground?
Light weight trailers are getting cheap right about now. End of the season.
Unfortunitly, it takes money to make money.
I have a friend that just spent $11k on a RV rental)plus campground space) while doing a job in Malibu. He could have bougt something and sold it by now and been $7000+ ahead. Now, he is starting the second phase of the job and he is still behind $$$
Just a thought...
250 dollars a night ??!?Heck, for even 50 dollars a night, for two months or more, you could buy yourself a pretty nice used rv, and then sell it when you are finished.....Electric bike...
Getting there is not the goal. Enjoying getting there, is..You are always welcome at Quittintime
$250 per night for a motel in Tracy? How many girls included?I think of Tracy as just a step up from Shafter. Maybe I ought to get off I-5 some time and see what's there.BruceT
There is nothing there...bedroom community between the East Bay and Stockton/Modesto.
Near the foreclosure capital of the world.
Something in the news a while back about many banks and mortgage holders giving away free rent and great rent reductions just to keep people on and around the properties as so many went vacant and there was the worry of wholesale stripping and vandalism. At times, whole blocks of homes are/were vacant.
Huck, maybe you can hook up with something like that for a bit. There are always goodwill stores for 2nd hand furniture for temp. use. You have to eat anyway you do it so that cost is fixed.
Trade off some of your skills on your off time in lieu of rent.
I'm not flippin' you off.........just counting cubits

I was looking into allowable tax deductions for an away job that I might do.$54 per day for food. $113 a day for lodging. Could be a factor to consider.John
Wow, who in the world goes to Tracy and spends $250 a night on a hotel? Having passed through Tracy numerous times this makes no sense to me at all.
I don't know. I so know some hotels charge that much and more here in Bakersfield, when I can get an inexpensive hotel room on the coast for under $100! Crazy. Or maybe that was a weekly rate? They just had the price up on a big banner. Maybe I wrongly assumed it was a nightly rate?View Image bakersfieldremodel.com
I bet you anything that was the weekly rate. Maybe check it again. There's no way a motel/hotel in Tracy that advertises on a billboard charges $250 a night.
I can't even imagine where in Tracy such a hotel would be, lol! They certainly wouldn't be in business very long!
Check Livermore too. Bigger city, maybe better options. Not too far from Tracy.
Sheet, $250 might be a monthly rate.

Extended Stay America, in Tracy, 59$ a nite. They are OK places.
Advertise for a room wanted on Craigslist?
Look up ^, we're think alike this morning.

Must be a good idea!
Thanks all for the replies. I'm mulling over all possibilities, but leaning towards orbitz.com, at this point. Still have to submit my bid, and play the waiting game.View Image bakersfieldremodel.com
There's some recently vacated mobile home spaces along the freeway, there's a church is just down the street. They're nice people but their daughter is kinda strange, not to worry, you won't have to put up with her because she's moved on to quieter digs.
"nice people but their daughter is kinda strange, not to worry, you won't have to put up with her because she's moved on to quieter digs."
Is there a joke I missed somewhere? Cause I'm a little worried for Huck.
Yes she has, and mighty fine new digs it is! Some of the best the state can afford as a matter of fact. The trailer park is where the church pastor's daughter lived and killed the little girl next door, taking her body out in a suitcase and tossing it into a drainage canal. It was just in the news all over the state, she's up for murder 1 now and eligible for the big needle. Her trailer, in the Tracy mobile home park, is now vacant but I suspect there won't be too many takers. You have to be a resident of the great state of California to catch on to that subtle suggestion.

Place to stay
I noticed that there were a few construction workers staying at a local storeage space rental over in Longview Tx . They seemed
to have electric and water that they used. That may be a little primitive however if you are working most of the time you are
out of town then it may be an option. Many of these now have a gate that they give you a password so you can come and go
anytime. And even some have space to store RV and Travel Trailers so depending on the owner or mgr this may save a little
on away from home expenses.
