It’s time for new plans software since my old Home Architect 3d is has been sold by Sierra, and then again, and no further support or updates are available.
I definitely went cheap last time around, but still don’t want to spend $500 or more for the really cool stuff.
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Positive and negative experiences will both be carefully read, even though the negative ones are always more entertaining.
Thanks in advance.

If you want really cool stuff, and a useable program, it might cost a few bucks. Have you done a search for cad programs here? Lots of discussions, some very current, with all kinds of opinions.
My 2 cents: I am a very experienced Autocad user, but they don't offer 3d in my price range, so I recently bought Chief Architect Home Edition 5.0 for $495. Has some neat stuff, but I'm struggling to learn. If you can afford it, you'll hear some good testimonials here for Chief Architect 8 and Soft Plan.
