I saw in a FHB houses issue where they plastered the a shower wall. You may remember the bathroom, it had a mosaic tile on one of the shower walls and the plaster was tinted with yellow. I am contemplating doing it on my own house. It seems like a really bad idea but I bought this really nice tile and I only have enough for the pan and one wall. My question is; Is this a bad idea (I think I know that answer)? But if I go ahead with it what kind of additives should I put in the plaster mix to prevent mold? thanks

I do beleive I've seen it done too. All i noticed was a good paintjob.
Can you hold the laser level while I shave?
One way to do it would be to use traditional skim-coat plaster, which once it's set up is no longer water soluble the way joint compound is. You can mix a little pigment in as you go. Then wax the surface with a wax tinted a similar but slightly different color. The was finish is nice and soft, and would repel some water.
I wouldn't want to be the guy who got hired to repaint the walls after that though!
