I’m building a new house and want to use 2-coat plaster veneer on blue board on the walls. My question is: how does this get finished? I’ve come across references both to using colored plaster and to finishing by painting the wall. If the finish coat is colored plaster, can both plaster coats be done in slightly different tones to give depth of color? Does it need some sort of sealant so it can be cleaned?
What are the pros and cons of colored plaster s. paint?
Thanks

Start your research at http://www.usg.com and look at their choices in "Interior Walls." Many choices. Their decorative interior finish system (DIFS) could give depth of color, for example. Also search the archives here for "plaster" or "veneer plaster" for numerous discussions of this. Some of your decision will be the capabilities of workers in your area--not everyone does everything--and budget--I've had quotes for walls from $.60/sq ft to >$5.
