   Is there a way to choose a specific file size using Irfanview?

   I reset my pixel ratio....but didn't notice a way to choose file size.

   Click on Image, then Resize/Resample.

   On the right side are different rations you can select.  480 x 600, 600 x 800, etc.

   Or, if you know the current file size, you can type in a % reduction to get close to your desired size. (left side in the middle)

   I think file size is somewhat a function of what is in the picture.  I think an all black or white picture (come on, we've all taken those) would have a smaller file size than a rainbow colored picture.  I'm just guessing, I don't know this for a fact.

   I hit "CTRL-R". That brings up the resize screen.

   It gives you several default options. (Like 800X600) Or you can choose a custom size.
   I love playing cards with children. They can't tell you're dealing off the bottom of the deck.

   I am guessing you mean file size as in kilobytes.When you save-as with a jpg, there is a little bar on the right side, you can slide it back and forth to change the level of compression, and therefore the quality, and therefore the size.

   Thats what I'm looking for......but I didn't notice the kb size. I'm assuming I can't set it specifically.....whatever it ends up being is determined by the degree of compression?

   There is definitely a bit of juju involved. I WISH you could set a maximum file size...but I don't think irfanview has that feature.

   That's what I thought.

   But at least I've finally got a program on my computer capable of resizing.

   Ya think waiting for a large pic to download via phone line is a pain in the arse....try uploading one!
