playhouse/tower construction method
Thinking of building a miniature church with steeple for grandkids playhouse.
10 by 10 ft ground floor, about 25 ft. high, 5X5 ft tower with spiral stairs.
Was thinking of building most of the tower flat on the ground with hinges on 4X4 sills, then raise the whole 20 feet into place with front end loader.
Anybody ever tried this technique for 25 feet or more, kinda like really big wall erection?

Sound very intresting. Post pictures as you go and be sure to letus know what not to do next time.

How about thinking of it as a three stage rocket so you can build vertical in three lifts and use a crane to set them?
Either way, I would use plenty of glue to keep it from racking with the lift action.
Be sure to have a decent foundation and anchor it against the wind.
Have already started, I put down a few yards of concrete filled with scrap iron (old pipe, chain, chainlink fence, busted up cast iron) in 8" wall as a foundation/counterweight, also 4 - 5 foot deep pilings for wind/earthquake forces, so that part should be OK.
Found some 27 ft long nearly clear fir 3-1/4 by 4" (true dimension) on a tubing pallet last week that I'll use for the corners, will use 5X10 ft by 18mm baltic birch or finfir for sheathing (from aircraft rudder shipping pallets from Ireland)- the glue is a good idea, so will take that advise in addition to popping 16d in every 4 inches.
