I have a circa 1950 Dietzgen transit. The tripod has been destroyed and I’m looking for a matching replacement (wood with brass). I’m not good at searching on the web so please guide me.
Thanks
Terry

Terry, you live in Colorado? In/near Denver? Here in Toledo, City Blueprint handles transit repairs/adjustment/sales. I'm sure if there's something in Denver like this, they'll be able to supply it or point you in the right direction.
*Terry, There's an antique store on Broadway that specializes in old transits, microscopes etc. I'll bet they'll be able to help you.Ken
*Terry,I hope to get the hammers this week. I'll let you know. Those old wood and brass tripods go for big money. There is a place here that repairs instruments. If you find one near you, they can help you get fitted with one that will fit your instrument. Maybe it's repairable by a good woodworker. You'd be surprised.Watch out, they are likely to try to buy your instrument from you if it's a good old one. Some people collect those big time and they can go for big bucks. Check out the eBay site in the antique tools section to get an idea if it's worth anything in the collectors market. (www.ebay.com) I'll look for you. I'm there all the time.Ed.
*Its a stretch, but you might try doing a search on ebay.......good luck ......Sandy
